William Coffin Hand Tinted Photo of Brant Point
William Coffin photo of Brant Point. Coffin was a contemporary of Marshall Gardiner and like Gardiner, produced hand tinted photos for postcards as well as selling them as large framed photos. Gardiner work has recently become very popular and highly collectable. I've always favored Coffin's work due to his minimal use of colors (usually not more than 3 or 4) which gives the photo a more subdued and dream-like effect. His postcards are more difficult to find than his photos but use the same artistic style. Unfortunately this photo has damage to the matting which is clearly visible in the photo. (Since Coffin signed the matting it shouldn't be replaced but much of the damage could be concealed by adding a second mat over the first, though I thought it best to leave that up to the buyer.) The photo is still a teriffic find and in the proper location would add a bit of rustic ambience to any Nantucket home. SHIPPING INCLUDED Product SKU: PC2425-09
